Md. Mahabubul Alam
Md. Mahabubul Alam has been working in the survey based social research organizations for around 15 years in both field level & management level. He has been associated with Data Analysis and Technical Assistance (DATA) since 2009. Mahabubul began his management-level career with DATA as a Field Coordinator in 2013. In 2016, he was promoted to Data Analyst, a position he continues to hold to this day. He possesses strong expertise in questionnaire development, facilitating enumerator training, and overseeing survey operations and management.
As a Data Analyst, Mahabubul has extensive experience in data cleaning, data checking, documentation, data analysis and modeling, ensuring data quality, data interpretation, and overall analysis. He is also skilled in coordinating data collection, ensuring accurate data recording in the M&E system, managing both online and offline data, and responding to data-related queries.
In addition, he is directly involved in facilitating enumerator training, survey management and coordination, field monitoring, and documenting work progress. He contributes to the reporting process of survey projects, participates in Training of Trainers (ToT) programs, and takes part in formative research for questionnaire development in survey projects.
In 2014, Mahabubul was assigned by the management of DATA to lead and coordinate the ER Plus (Endline) survey. In 2015, he was assigned to lead and coordinate the Sunamgonj Community-Based Resource Management Project (SCBRMP) survey. Again, in 2016, he was assigned to lead and coordinate the Young Women’s Nutrition Knowledge: Mymensing Nutrition Contest Project, conducting both the Baseline and Midline Surveys.
He also led and coordinated the Bangladesh Aquaculture and Horticulture for Nutrition Research (BAHNR) surveys in 2015-2017, covering the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd rounds. In 2018, Mahabubul was assigned to lead and coordinate the Dhaka Low-Income Area Gender, Inclusion, and Poverty (DIGNITY) Survey, conducted by The World Bank.
In 2020, he led the Feasibility Study of Integrating Maternal, Infant, and Young Child Nutrition (MIYCN) Counseling Services into urban Maternal, Neonatal, and Child Health (MNCH) services. He also coordinated the Targeting and Re-aligning Agriculture to Improve Nutrition (TRAIN) Endline Survey (2020-2021), the Bangladesh Initiative to Enhance Nutrition Security and Governance (BIeNGS) Survey (2019-2021), and the Empowering Poor Urban Women in Bangladesh through Digital Financial Services (WEE_DiFine) survey (2022-2023).
In 2024, Mahabubul led the WFP – Resilience High Frequency Survey and was involved in the Transforming Agri-Food Systems in South Asia (TASSFA) and Local Agri-Food Systems Assessment (LAFSA) surveys (2023). Additionally, he coordinated the Bangladesh Individual Consumption Study (BICS) and the Joint Interventions to Improve Birth Outcomes and Nutrition (JIBON) survey (2022-2024).
Apart from these roles, Mahabubul was involved in the enumerator training process for most of the surveys undertaken by DATA in recent years.
Mahabubul has experience working at various stages of both hardcopy and device-based surveys. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from National University.
