Mahmudun Nabi
Mahmudun Nabi has been working with Data Analysis and Technical Assistance (DATA) since January 2013 and is currently serving as a Project Development Officer. He began his career with DATA on January 1, 2013, as a Research Officer and was promoted to Project Development Officer in 2016, a position he continues to hold to date. During this period he involved with many studies that primary focus on education, food and nutrition security, health, rural livelihoods, agriculture, markets, value chains, credit, and poverty research. In addition to his role at DATA, Nabi has also worked as a consultant for other research organization, contributing to survey operations and management for various studies conducted by Plan International, International Rescue Council (IRC), BRAC, IFRC, UNHCR and Save the Children. These studies focused on the Rohingya and host communities in Cox’s Bazar, addressing issues related to livelihoods, education, nutrition, health, and WASH (Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene).
During this time, he has worked under the direct supervision of Mr. Md. Zahidul Hasan, Managing Director of Data Analysis and Technical Assistance (DATA), on several prestigious research projects. These projects were conducted in collaboration with renowned organizations such as the International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI), Tufts University (USA), Kent University (UK), the World Bank (Bangladesh), and the World Food Programme (WFP) (Bangladesh), among others.
Nabi also has extensive experience assisting researchers and senior consultants in developing survey tools and in the design, development, and integration of survey questionnaires.
In 2014, Nabi was assigned by the management of DATA to lead and coordinate the assessment survey titled “Third Party Spot-Checks Assessment” for the Bangladesh Disability and Children at Risk (DCAR) project. In 2016, as a Project Development Officer, he led and coordinated the Bangladesh Agricultural Value Chain (AVC) Impact Evaluation survey for the International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI), Washington. Later that year, he also led and coordinated the Agricultural Value Chain (AVC) Lab-in-the-Field Experiments 2016, an experimental study designed and supervised by IFPRI. In 2017, Nabi was again assigned as a Project Development Officer to lead and coordinate the Bangladesh Agricultural Value Chain (AVC) Impact Evaluation Midline Survey, focusing on jute farmers and input sellers. In 2018, he was tasked by the management of DATA to lead and coordinate the Bangladesh Agricultural Value Chain (AVC) Impact Evaluation Endline Survey.
In addition to his work in developing survey tools and assisting senior consultants with the design, development, management, and integration of survey questionnaires, Nabi is also involved in adapting and translating questionnaires to suit the local context. He contributes to various aspects of survey projects, including facilitating enumerator training, managing and coordinating surveys, monitoring field activities, and writing progress reports based on field findings.
Nabi plays an active role in the reporting process for survey project progress, drafting manuals, participating in Training of Trainers (ToT) programs, and contributing to formative research for questionnaire development.
Nabi has extensive experience communicating with clients when assigned by management, as well as visiting the field with clients during surveys or field practices. He has worked in various stages of both hardcopy and device-based surveys.
Nabi holds a Master’s degree in Development Studies (MDS).
