Kazi Najirul Islam

Kazi Najirul Islam has been working in the survey based social research organizations for around 18 years in both field level & management level.  He has been associated with Data Analysis and Technical Assistance (DATA) since 2007. Najirul Islam began his management-level career with DATA as a Field Coordinator in 2013. In 2016, he was promoted to Data Analyst, a role he continues to hold to this day. He possesses extensive knowledge in questionnaire development, training enumerators, and managing survey operations.

 

As a Data Analyst, Najirul has extensive experience in data cleaning, data checking, documentation, data analysis and modeling, ensuring data quality, data interpretation, coordinating data collection, and ensuring accurate recording into the M&E system. He is also skilled in both online and offline data management, as well as responding to data-related queries.

 

In addition, Najirul is directly involved in facilitating training for enumerators, managing and coordinating surveys, field monitoring, documenting work progress, contributing to the reporting process of survey projects, participating in Training of Trainers (ToT) programs, and engaging in formative research for questionnaire development in survey projects.

 

In 2014, Najirul was assigned by the management of DATA to lead and coordinate the survey titled “Assessing the Efficacy of Safety Net Transfer Modalities in Bangladesh.” Later that same year, he was again assigned to lead and coordinate the “Targeting the Ultra Poor-Nutrition (TUP-N)” Intervention survey. In 2016, Najirul led and coordinated the “Targeting and Re-aligning Agriculture to Improve Nutrition (TRAIN) Baseline Survey.”

 

In 2017, he was assigned to oversee the survey titled “Assessing the Women’s Empowerment in Agriculture Index for Value Chains (WEAI4VC) Bangladesh-2017.” In 2018, Najirul led the “Assessing the Impact of Bt Brinjal Technology in Bangladesh Endline Survey (July-August 2018)” and the “WiLCAS Follow-up Study 2018 on Child Marriage Law, Gender Norms, and Marriage Customs.”

 

From 2019 to 2020, he led and coordinated the survey titled “A Feasibility Study of Integrating Maternal, Infant, and Young Child Nutrition (MIYCN) Counseling Services in Urban Maternal, Neonatal, and Child Health (MNCH) Services.” In 2019 and 2021, Najirul was assigned to lead the “Bangladesh Initiative to Enhance Nutrition Security and Governance (BIeNGS).”

 

In 2023, he coordinated the “Round-3 Survey for the BIeNGS Programme in Bangladesh,” and in 2024, he was assigned to lead the “Bangladesh Individual Consumption Study (BICS).” Additionally, from 2023 to 2024, he led and coordinated the “Joint Interventions to Improve Birth Outcomes and Nutrition (JIBON) 2022-2024” study.

 

In addition, Najirul has been actively involved in the training process for enumerators in most of the surveys conducted by DATA over the past few years.

 

Najirul has experience working at various stages of both hardcopy and device-based surveys. He has strong expertise in facilitating training on WEAI, food intake, and agriculture, as well as in survey management. Najirul holds a Master’s degree in Social Science from National University.
