Afia Binte Latif Shanta
Afia Binte Latif Shanta has been working in the field of social research for around 6 years, in both field level & management level. Shanta started with DATA in 2018 as a Research Officer, she has started her career at management level with DATA as a Research Assistant in Feb, 2024 and continuing till to date. She has sound knowledge on questionnaire development, facilitating training to the enumerators, writing report etc.
As a Research Assistant, Shanta has experience of working in the process of questionnaire development, facilitating training to the enumerators, conduct focus group discussion (FGD), in-depth interviews (IDI), key informant interviews (KI) and reviewing literature, analyzing data and drafting the report etc.
Beside of that, she directly involve with facilitating training to the enumerators, survey management & coordination, field monitoring and documentation of work progress, contribute the reporting process of the survey project, participate in Training of Trainers (ToT), and take part in formative research for questionnaire development of survey project.
In 2024, Shanta was assigned by the management of DATA to co- lead & coordinate the Bangladesh Individual Consumption Study (BICS) survey of World Bank. In 2024, again she was assigned to co- lead & coordinate a study titled “Executive Functioning (EF)” project for a PhD candidate from Stanford University Apart of that Shanta was involved with the enumerators’ training process of the most of the surveys that DATA undertakes in last one year.
Shanta has the experience of writing an academic thesis paper titled: “Diverse processes of adaptation to climate collision: Ethnographic study in the context of changing socio-political identity of Manipuri community” in 2022- 2023 under supervision of Mohammad Nasir Uddin, Professor, Department of Anthropology, Jahangirnagar University.
Shanta also has the experience of presenting a Conference Paper Titled: “The Adivasi’s Representation in NCTB: An Analysis” in 2023.

Shanta also has the experience of writing an academic Dissertation paper Titled: “The Uncertainty Caused by the Corona Pandemic and the Lives of Garment Workers: An Ethnographic Research” in 2021-2022. Supervised by Mohammad Nasir Uddin, Professor, Department of Anthropology, Jahangirnagar University.
Shanta has experience of working in different steps of both hardcopy and device based survey. Shanta, holds a Master of Social Science (MSS) in Anthropology from Jahangirnagar University in 2023.
